It’s been a tough week at Calvary. The loss of Sal Minutelli, whose life we will celebrate tomorrow at Calvary at 11 A.M., was followed this morning by the death of Tom Wuerdeman, longtime member of Calvary with his wife, Penny. Tom’s last days, in the good care of Community Hospice, were peaceful. When I know details for the celebration of his life, I will send out a separate notice. In the meantime, please add Tom’s family to your prayers for Sal’s loved ones.
As we continue our special Advent season activities, don’t forget these opportunities for fellowship, learning, worship, and service in the coming week or so:
- Tonight (Thursday) – Advent Evening Program, Children’s rehearsal for Christmas Pageant, 6 P.M. Bring a pot of soup, bread, fruit, veggies, or a dessert to share, and we’ll enjoy a simple meal, some learning, and Compline. I’ll do a little teaching this evening about how we worship with our bodies – those personal pieties some Episcopalians use in their worship, like crossing themselves and bowing.
- Friday – Sci-Fi Geek Night at 6 P.M. features Wonder Woman (2017, PG-13). Bring $5 for pizza and a geeky friend!
- Sunday following worship – Izak McKenzie continues facilitating Adult Christian Education with the video/discussion series “Down to Earth.”
- Tuesday, Dec. 12 – Baptism/Confirmation/Reception/Anglican Identity Class, 6 P.M. in the Heritage Room: Additional dates will follow in January. All are welcome! (Please let me know in advance if you will attend; we lock the front door for security and I don’t want you locked out if you are delayed!)
- Thursday, Dec. 14 – Parish Advent Dinner, 6 P.M. Bring your favorite potluck dish (casserole, salad, side dish, dessert, veggie, etc.), and a plate of cookies for the cookie exchange! Calvary will supply meat and beverages.
- Saturday, Dec. 16 – Cleaning of the Church in preparation for Christmas, beginning at 9 A.M. Many hands are needed, and good fellowship abounds. All are welcome!
See the calendar below for special rehearsals around our Christmas services!
Wishing you every blessing,
Mtr. TJ
