Meeting Debrief & Clairvoyant Rodents

Dear Friends,

Great parish meeting on Sunday! A nomination from the floor by Don Maxwell added Cade Mahan to the list of vestry nominees, moving us to a paper ballot. Cade, along with Renee Walters and Sean Farrington, was elected.

Jeannie Broughton, Carol Greene, Izak McKenzie, and Nancy Ross were elected deputies to the 2018 diocesan convention, with Sean Farrington, Cade Mahan, Rick Waddle, and Victor Wilson elected alternates.

Attendees expressed their appreciation for retiring vestry members Liz Alexander, Steve Gilmore, and Brenda Hayes, and asked questions about the 2017 budget approved by the vestry in December. As attendees finished up a potluck feast, we had a little fun with the Rector’s Awards (see below).

Thanks to Liz Alexander, who served as clerk, and Trish Pitt, who served as parliamentarian.

In other news, Punxutawney Phil, that clairvoyant rodent, saw his shadow this morning, forecasting six more weeks of winter. I can never remember whether this is good or bad news, but, upon consultation with our parish’s Chief Weather Reporter (see below), I learned that this is not good news for those of us awaiting spring . . .

Groundhog Day shares the calendar with a lovely feast of the Church, The Presentation of Our Lord at the temple in Jerusalem. Come celebrate on Sunday!

Wishing you every blessing,

Mtr. TJ
