Last Friday, Don Maxwell, Sean Farrington, and I attended a “Cops and Community” dinner given by Ashland’s Police Department designed for local leaders to promote community building. The speaker for the event was Paul Butler, nationally recognized leadership and motivational speaker.
It was impressive to see about 100 of our local leaders – clergy, politicians, city services personnel, medical and other agency heads – come together over a common meal (as we do here at Calvary each Sunday), to reflect on the hard, but necessary, work of establishing relationships among all sectors of our town in the interests of addressing problems and promoting the welfare of all of us.
The event was by invitation; that clergy were invited suggests that our churches are still considered by other leaders an important influence in Ashland and valuable partners in the effort to continue our “Proud Past” and work toward our “Bright Future.”
Wishing you every blessing,
Mtr. TJ
