Dear Friends,
This coming Sunday, during and following worship, we will “do the business” of Calvary at our Annual Parish Meeting. For our new folks . . . Don’t panic! This is not your usual business meeting!
In place of a homily, I will give the Rector’s Address during worship. Following the service, we’ll adjourn to the parish hall, grab some refreshments, and be seated to continue with the meeting. We’ll hear a few comments from Senior Warden Ray Andre, and we’ll take a look at the 2018 budget approved by your vestry at its December meeting. We’ll give thanks for the good service of Don Maxwell and Jim Adams, retiring from vestry service, and elect two new members to three-year terms. We’ll elect four deputies to our diocesan convention in 2019, and four alternates to serve should a deputy be unable. Nominations from the floor will be accepted.
This portion of the meeting is generally brief, and a bit of fun follows: the Rector’s Awards. These tokens go to folks whose presence and service to our common life merit special recognition and thanks, and whose contributions often are quiet and unseen.
Come and take part as we look back at 2017 – a slide show will play both before and after worship – and look forward to the year now unfolding. If the growing presence of the Holy Spirit among us last year is any indication, 2018 will be a year of special blessing!
Wishing you every blessing,
Mtr. TJ
Bishop Terry White of the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky asks us to unite in prayer in response to the tragic school shooting at Marshall County High School:
Holy God, holy and mighty, holy immortal One, have mercy upon us. Amen.
Pray for the 2 who are dead, for the 17 wounded, and for those too many to number traumatized by the deadly violence at Marshall County, Kentucky High School. Pray that we not grow numb to such violence. Pray for courage and resolve to create change.
