Dear Calvary friends,
Last Sunday was such a gift! Every time we gather it is a gift to be
together and this past Sunday was no exception. First, there were about 70 of us in worship. A significant percentage of children and youth were present. The choir led us with great congregational music and their anthem was glorious. Thank you to all who played instruments, including the trumpet fanfare, and to all who sang!
Since it was the 5th Sunday of the month, we designated the special
bulletin envelope donations to go toward completing our livestream
equipment. We needed $500 to reach our goal of $1,500 and you all were
faithful to that amount which means we can move to next phase of ordering
the cameras, a used iPad, tripods, and cables.
Then we moved into the Parish Hall for our 4th of July festivities and
enjoyed good food and good company. At one point I looked around the
room with another parishioner who commented, “It’s really great to be here
in the middle of summer and see this room so full!”
I met several newcomers and had the chance to catch up with some
members who have been travelling who said it was good to be home again.
We are a busy group of people, but our church is where we intersect with
one another as a family and there is simply no substitute for that kind of
community.
So, all I can say is a huge and hearty Thank You! To all who led and
participated in worship. To the Altar Guild who always is working behind the
scenes to make sure we are ready for Eucharist. To all who contributed
toward the livestream ministry. To all the cooks and kitchen crew. To all
who brought food. And finally, to everyone who came and especially to
those who invited someone to Calvary!
This Sunday…? Well, all I can say is, “I hope to see you then!”
Blessings, Fr. Jon
