Dear Calvary friends,
What a glorious gathering we had last Sunday! Both services combined were 75 strong! Remember that you can come to the 8a.m. Rite 1 service as an added Lenten practice whether it is new to you or was the main service you participated in before. Plus, if attendance is strong and remains steady, we can continue to have an earlier service in the future!
Looking ahead:
- This Sunday’s formation time in St. Mary’s Hall is open to everyone from 9:15-9:45a.m. We are continuing to look at the books of the New Testament to become more familiar with the scriptures. Last Sunday we had an overview of the New Testament and for this week I asked participants to try and stump the priest with NT questions. You are welcome to join us over the next few weeks as we dive into The Book of Common Prayer’s Daily Offices, Rite I & II, the Pastoral Offices, and the Catechism.
- * Anyone interested in being Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church are especially encouraged to attend.
New and Renewed ministries:
- Cindy McKnight and several others have faithfully kept the Card Ministry going over the past few years. They will continue to send cards, but now with the help of Renee Walters on board. If you are interested in being a card writer, just let one of us know, we can provide Calvary cards to you. Any extra greeting cards that you may have can be brought to the office and donated as we build up a library of free cards for various uses including Birthdays, Thinking of You, Sympathy, Congratulations, Thank You, etc.
- Holy Gophers! This is a new group that is forming to help pick up items, run errands, or to deliver items from the church to those who have a difficult time getting out. This ministry comes in handy for shut-ins and those recovering from surgery as just a couple of examples. We affectionally call these angel-helpers Holy Gophers because they are the angels who will go for this and go for that!
To sign up to be a Gopher please contact me or Suzanne Smith. You only help according to your schedule and when you are available to spend 20-30 minutes. We want to build a team of several Gophers so please consider giving this ministry a try and Go For It!
See you Sunday!
Blessings, Fr. Jon
