Dear Friends,
I offer you greetings from Jeannie Broughton, recovering at Seneca Place, a rehabilitation facility in Louisville. As most of you know, Jeannie has been ill – several times critically so – for more than a year.
When I saw Jeannie on Monday, she was remarkably better! Doctors in Louisville have her on a course of treatment that appears to be managing her symptoms, and the weeks in physical and occupational therapy at Seneca Place have begun to strengthen her and restore her balance. While she tires quickly with therapy, she is able to walk short distances unassisted and a good deal longer with her walker. She is now, for the first time in many months, hopeful of resuming the life and activities abandoned because of her illness and was, when I saw her, back to her former self, full of humor and optimism.
Much of this renewal of spirit has to do with her experiences of God during the last health crisis that led her to seek treatment in Louisville. It is powerful testimony, and when she returns to Ashland, she will share it with you on a Sunday morning.
Beth, Jeannie’s granddaughter, has done a very fine job of assuming the management of Blessings in a Backpack in her absence. Our thanks to her for maintaining continuity in this important ministry!
Wishing you every blessing,
Mtr. TJ
