Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As most of you know, I retired from the Diocese of Lexington Tuesday and have been invited by the Calvary Vestry to continue serving as your interim rector through the end of 2023 unless a new rector is called before January. As such, I will continue on the schedule I have been serving here, normally Sunday, Monday and Tuesday each week except for the third week each month when I will be serving in Harlan. I will also continue ministering with St. Timothy’s and coordinating supply and as a resource for the mountain congregations. I know this may not sound like retirement to many, but I will be relinquishing many of the roles I have had over the last few years. While the day has come faster than I had planned, I have known it would arrive and have looked forward to it with some excitement as well as trepidation. As things stand now, my wife and I will continue living where we are through the end of this year and then probably move to Harlan after the first of the year where I will work part-time. I have worked since my teens and the thought of just sitting back and doing nothing is something I do not think I could stand. All of this is to say, there will be little to no change here at Calvary for the next four months. I will still be on call when needed. My contact email will change and the new one will be found at the end of this newsletter. The phone numbers will be the same. I look forward to continuing our work over the next few months and am thankful for the Vestry asking me to continue as we spread the love of Jesus.
Peace,
Bryant+
