Alyse Giffin, Director

Pre Teen & Teen Head Teacher

Continue getting to know one teacher a week! (This will also be used on our webpage as a bio)

I began my training after I graduated high school in 2004. My path led me to an AA degree in Early Childhood education, a California teaching credential, eventually moving to Ohio and achieving a certification in a Physical Therapy Assistant program, with a focus on children. Over the years I have participated in and led many trainings, certification programs, continuing education classes and worked closely with licensing through our accredited programs. Most recently I have attended classes through Ohio University majoring in management.

Faith has always been an important part of my life, being raised in church with my grandmother being a cradle Episcopalian. God has giving me the life skills and experiences to land me as the Director of a wonderful church Youth program here at Calvary. My hopes for myself and the program are that we continue to grow; grow in faith, grow in love, grow in size!

If you see me around town please feel free to chat with me! I tend to love learning about others and have a deep love for Ashland as a community!

In my personal time I enjoy spending time with my friends, laughing, crafting, general DIY, working on personal growth as well as strengthening my current relationships!

March Acolyte Training

Did you know that being an acolyte is not just for the children? If you are interested in mentoring and modeling tradition for our youth please attend the acolyte training with Cade Mahan March 5th after service in the nave.

We will be moving to 2 a month for Acolyting until we have a few more people to serve!

March Bullet Points 2023

Hey everyone!

For our March newsletter I am trying a new website to create it. This would make it easier to transfer information over to our main webpage! I am still learning the program but please take a movement to review all of the information provided this month!

We had an awesome turnout for Shrove Tuesday last month and I was so proud to have so many of my kids volunteering happily. It made for a super pleasant evening and filled my heart with gratitude.
As mentioned to the left our children would like to attend a fun filled day fellowshipping at Kings Island this year for our Big trip!
Acolyting has been going great! I want to thank all of the parents that have been making sure to have their kids at service onetime or finding a fill in if needed.
Ash Wednesday service was well attended and we had many of our young faces there as well!
Last week Ms. Debbie and I took a few of the youth to an Estate sale! It was cool to see the reactions of their faces when finding someones old treasures to admire once again in a new home!
Surveys are out! We have surveys and a quick reconnection letter to all involved in our children’s program! If you did not receive your letter please keep your eyes peeled, fill out your survey and return in your pre stamped envelope!
We have new Youth Welcome Packets! Take a look by the front door and if you bring a friend, please make sure they are sent home with a packet!

Remodeling Projects

The Cage

We are redoing the back parking lot and making this space an awesome area for our youth! This is a great way to show the community our growth and invite new faces in! What better way to acknowledge the beautiful world God created, than to have the kids catching some rays on sunny days!

Pre Teen/ Teen Room

Our new focal point is up and the space is looking better every time we add something! I am so thankful to those who have donated so that we were able to get the youth room to this stage! So now what?

I need your help painting! Who is available? There is no set time for this! I simply need your time and Cade and I can help you set up the rest. Bring a friend or your earphones and paint knowing you are about to transform a space for some super thankful and awesome kids!

Elementary Room

This space is coming together wonderfully! Full of color now and Ms. Debbie putting her personal touches all over! We will continue accepting donations to fix this space up and will need help to paint in the elementary room as well!

Infant/ Toddler Room

We painted this space when we first started redoing the downstairs! We have been working on updates through out ever since! If you have any items to donated we always appreciate it- do you have art ideas for the side walls? Thanks in advance!
