Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
This last Sunday we celebrated the Holy Trinity at the combined 10a.m. service with 67 folks present. That is a strong showing over a three-day holiday weekend! Following the service, we enjoyed a bountiful feast in recognition of Memorial Day weekend. Thank you worship leaders, choir members, lunchtime cooks, and everyone else for your participation in making this Trinity Sunday a great one!
This coming Sunday starts the longest liturgical season of the year which we refer to as Ordinary Time. We also call this season the Sundays after Pentecost. For example, this coming Sunday is the Second Sunday after Pentecost because Trinity Sunday was counted as the First Sunday after Pentecost. Simply put, Ordinary time is the season after Trinity Sunday that takes us to Christ the King Sunday on November 24, 2024. The liturgical color during Ordinary Time is green.
We will continue our one Sunday service at 10a.m. This allows everyone to worship together and brings more people into our fellowship gatherings. Adult formation at 9a.m. includes a bible study in the Heritage Room and a Rector’s Forum discussing the church terms we use in the Fellowship Hall.
One new aspect of Sundays beginning this week and moving forward will be the youth being present for the entire service. This is in response to parents who expressed an interest in the youth having a regular worship life with the rest of the congregation. Any youth who would like to serve as an acolyte, usher, lector, or choir member will now be able to do so without missing their youth group time. Please let us know if you are interested in being trained in any of these ministries.
The youth formation time and youth group start after the service and our fellowship time. Youth group is from noon to 2p.m. each Sunday! Lunch is in the plans during youth gatherings and if you are willing to help with that then please contact Alyse Giffin. Thank you!
Blessings, Fr. Jon
