A Message from Father Bryant

My Sisters and Brothers,

This will be short and sweet today. Calvary’s Annual Meeting will be held after the service this Sunday. It is very important that everyone be present. Lunch will be provided. We will have reports concerning our ministries, an update from the Search and Nominating Committee, the election of new Vestry members, and Deputies for the diocesan convention to be held on October 28, 2023. Calvary’s Bylaws define eligible voters as: “Members qualified to vote shall be those persons who are sixteen years of age or older and who, at the time of the meeting, are confirmed ‘communicants in good standing’ (those who for the previous year have received Holy Communion at least three times, have been faithful in corporate worship, unless for good cause prevented, and have been faithful in working, praying, and giving for the spread of the Kingdom of God); or any other baptized persons who are sixteen years of age or older and who have been regular worshipers in the parish for at least six months prior to the meeting have been regular contributors to the support of the parish.” (Section 4.4).“Those persons eligible to stand for election and serve on the Vestry must have the same qualifications as those who can vote as set forth in Section 4.4 above.” (Section 4.9). The qualifications for Deputies to our Diocesan Convention are slightly different. Our Diocesan Canon 1.3 states “Lay Deputies shall be adult confirmed communicants in good standing of the congregation from which elected.”

Peace,

Bryant+
