Meet Our New Rector

The Reverend Antoinette "T.J." Azar

Dear Calvary Family,

On behalf of the Vestry, I am so pleased to tell you that Calvary has called Mother Antoinette "T.J." Azar as our next rector. Her first Sunday with us will be November 4. Here is a little information about her:

Mtr. TJ AzarMtr. TJ Azar comes to the Diocese of Lexington from three years' service at St. Anne Episcopal Church in West Chester, Ohio (just north of the Cincinnati outer belt). Before being called to Holy Orders, she was a writing professor, a higher education specialist in the assessment of student academic achievement, and a freelance copy editor and proofreader.

The mother of two grown children and four grandchildren, TJ spent most of her life in Southeast Ohio, which, she says, "looks very much like Ashland!" where she has been called to serve as Calvary Episcopal Church's new rector.

"My kids told me long ago that I would never be cool," TJ says, "and I have embraced my inner geek. I love reading, sci-fi, pinochle, music, and impossibly bad puns."

"More to the point," she says, "I can't wait to begin doing ministry with the folks at Calvary! They are full of potential and ready to do God's work. How blessed I am that they have called me to help them realize that potential!"

Let's give her a great Calvary welcome!
