Tips for Newcomers

NurseryPlease feel free to take your infants through two years of age to the nursery.  An usher or greeter will be happy to show you the way.  Nursery attendants are paid, qualified, and trained in Prevention of Sexual Misconduct.

The nursery is located in the basement.

Children's ChurchDuring the year on most Sundays, Children's Church is held during the 9:00 service.  Children from age 3 through 3rd grade are welcome to attend.  An invitation for the children to come forward follows the opening prayer.  If parents would like to go with their children, they are welcome to do so.  Children are back with their parents before the Eucharist.  Calvary welcomes children in all services and hopes that they feel they are an important part of our parish family.  Children are invited to come forward to watch when there is a baptism.

Stay for CoffeeDuring the regular service times, coffee and refreshments are served following the 9:00 a.m. service in the parish hall.  Even if you don't have enough time to stay for coffee, be sure to linger after the service and give us time to find you and greet you.  A small donation for coffee and refreshments is always gladly received.

Sign Up for SomethingAnnouncements, invitations, and sign-up sheets are in the ambulatory.  You may not want to commit yourself to service or outreach right away, but there are opportunities for what we call "first-serve."  These are one time, no prep, no committees, no follow-up ~ just a chance to come and see what Calvary is all about.  For example, try the 20s & 30s Get Together, Men's Breakfast, Ladies' Bible Study, Supper Groups, Room in the Inn, Church under the Bridge, and many more.

Also, watch for special Newcomer events such as our annual Advent Tea for Newcomer Ladies in December and the "Taste of Italy" progressive dinner around the church for all Newcomers in April.  These events are designed especially for those who may not have made friends yet nor are aware of our programs and activities.
